This is another quick post about something that I think people should take the time to watch or listen to.
I happened to be on Facebook the other day and a posting by my former church, One Life Church (formerly Trinity Church), popped up. I don’t see these very often, but I thought I would take a look to see what they were covering. I was surprised. They are in the middle of a sermon series called, “It’s Complicated”. It is about Sex, Marriage, Kids, and more (see below). The first two sermons have been really good.
The first one was about Sexual Identity (message starts at 31:48)
When I started the first message, I wasn’t sure how this was going to be tackled by Paster Jared. I know what I believe, but I also know that there are lots of people and “Christians” that believe differently than I do. And I have never heard a sermon on this. I was delighted to find that he spoke truth from the Bible and spoke love to all people no matter what side of the discussion they come from.
The second was on Healthy Sexuality (message starts at 31:24).
This was another very good message about what it means to have a healthy, Biblical view of sexuality.
I am not here to talk about my beliefs at the moment (maybe someday) on these topics. What I want to address is the fact that Paster Jared does a great job in these 2 sermons to address what the Bible says (and therefore what God says). He speaks in love. He is never hostile. He is honest. He uses Scripture to explain things. He also uses science to explain things in the the first video.
To my friends that aren’t Christians, because you don’t like what some say about the LGBTQIA+ community, I think you should watch the first sermon in identity. To my friends that are “haters” of the LGBTQIA+ community, I think you should watch both sermons.
This series is going on for the month of February 2023. I think you should take some time to watch/listen to them. I hope you will find that love prevails in the darkness.
