On Saturday, October 14, 2023 I had the chance to see an annular solar eclipse from my home in Chandler. It was only 86% of totality at the maximum. It was still really cool. I was able to get out my solar telescope and I decided part way through that I would take pictures of the sun with my cell phone through the telescope every 5 to 10 minutes.
It worked ok (somewhat). I was able to see a flare as well coming off the sun. That was really cool. One of my daughters was at home with me that day and she also thought it was all very cool.
Then I decided to put all the pictures into a video slideshow with music. That is what you have here. The music is Brave Saint Saturn – “The Sun Also Rises”. I thought the name fit well. It was that or The Offspring – “Staring At the Sun”. I like the BSS song more.
