Got the Ford back on Saturday. They took care of the recalls on it, and replaced the bushing (and another seal) on the CV axle.
YEAH!
AND – I got an inspection report on the car as well from Ford. Most of it was “these are things that should be taken care of” recommendations. I think most of those were related to the fact that the car has almost 100K miles on it and so these are things to look into (spark plus, motor mounts, shocks, fluid flushes).
BUT – here is the fun part. There was a “needs to be taken care of right away” section. It listed the worn out windshield wiper blades (yeah I know, but it is Phoenix and it hardly ever rains). It mentioned an oil leak that needed to be found. I am not sure how they know there was an oil leak since there was SO MUCH transmission oil everywhere that I am not sure how they could tell. When all this started I thought I saw a small oil leak from a rubber line on the car, and I will look into that more later.
Now for the fun one. They mentioned that the coolant was heavy diluted and needed to be replaced soon, and that there appeared to be a coolant leak. I told them that I had had the coolant flushed by the shop that had done the work earlier in the week. The service person at Ford said, “Well, you need to have a long conversation with them about that then.”
I was so irritated. I called the shop right away and got their machine which I expected because of the time of day. I left a message outlining what I got from Ford and asked them to call me back. I gave them until Wednesday (today) to call me back and I had heard nothing from them. So, I called them today.
I hate confrontation (I think I will write on that more at a later date). But I just laid it all out to the lady that I think really runs the place. I told her I had lost trust in their place, and I was at a lost as to what was going on. They had not done the seal/axle/bushing correctly and now it appears as if the coolant wasn’t done correctly either. She asked me to bring the car back one more time. They would put it on a lift with me there the entire time and she and I would be able to go over the car. She was concerned that Ford was pulling a fast one on me, but I am concerned that it is more likely them that are trying to pull a fast one. They have agreed to reimburse me for the work if I am still unhappy after Friday. That is good, but I am so annoyed. Why can’t people be honest and do a good job. This place has over 250 reviews and a 4.8 rating on Google so I thought I was safe, but I don’t trust them anymore.
I’ll let you know what happens after Friday morning.
