Last posting about that weekend (not this one). I meant to get it out earlier in the week, but it was my first week of classes so that didn’t happen.
One of the other things my fmaily did while we were up north was go sledding. Often there is a large pile of snow in our circle and then the girls can make sledding ramps that are fun enough for them, but that wasn’t the case this time really. there was a pile, but not good enough for sledding off of.
So, I ventured off to find a good sledding area. I had an idea nearish to our place, and when I went by there were about 10 vehicles there already. So, not the only one with that idea.
I went and talked with the family and we decided to try that area, but to drive up the gravel road further to see if we could find anything that wasn’t crowded. And boy did we. My wife spotted a great hillside that was off the road a little bit. There were some trees, but there was a clear stretch down the hill.
So, we got our stuff and trudged up the hill to see what we could do.
Aside – in the past we have been using the plastic sleds that look like trashcan lids. They have worked just fine. But this year my wife bought an inflatable penguin (think inner-tube). We all wanted to try it out. So, “G” started the day because she was the lightest and could start compressing the snow. Then “A” went and the me and finally “B”, and we all went down on the penguin. It was so much fun. It was what I remembered doing back in jr. high and high school when sledding. We did use the other sleds too, but mostly the penguin.
Here are some pictures of us sledding:
This one of my wife made us laugh because we thought it looked like she should be holding a beer, and then “B” and I thought about those Dos Equis commercials for “The Most Interesting Man in the World”, and I decided I had to add that in.
We had so much fun that I made sure to come back home a little early from skiing so we could get in another run on the hill the next day. It wasn’t as good, and we all hit a tree at least once.
Everyone really should consider going one of those inflatables if you are going sledding. It was a blast! Our kept loosing air and will have to be exchanged, but it was a blast!
