The next day we headed into Joshua Tree NP. We hit the ranger station first and got some info on hikes and Jr. Ranger books for the girls. Then we headed in. We did a couple short hikes before lunch: the Hidden Valley Loop and the Barker Dam Loop. Both were nice and we saw lots of big rocks and Joshua trees.
After that we went to our campsite at Jumbo Rock Campground. We got a very nice spot (78) at the very end of the campground. It was separated from the craziness of many of the sites, and we had lunch and setup our tent. The wind was already picking up and so we wanted to make sure we had the tent up and ready for the night.
After that we headed over to the Split Rock loop and it was also a nice, but uninteresting, hike. We then hit skull and elephant rocks on our way back to the campsite.
The girls had some time to wander in the jumbo rocks for a while and āGā was a mountain goat and was all over the place. I found a nice picture to take (I hope).
Then we had another fine dinner and then more star watching. The sunset was very nice as well. Then time for bed.
