I finally got the motorcycle working correctly.
It was the stem neck nut. I ordered a tool on Amazon and it arrived Sunday. I was able to tear the front end apart again and get to it. Then I put the adjustable spanner wrench on it along with a torque wrench and tighten it down to the manual specs.
Then all back together – which I am getting pretty good at too now – and took it for a ride.
And… No more wobble.
I rode it to a men’s thing at my church last night and it ran really well. So, all that work and frustration and it was the stem nut. Well it was definitely the stem bearings, but it may not have been the tire of the wheel bearings at all. Oh well, it was time for a tire (20000 miles and 6 years on it after all), and the wheel bearings don’t hurt, and they may have been going bad anyways.
I am thankful for all the advice I got from my father and a friend at SCC on what to check out along the way and how to get things apart (heat is your friend when taking wheel bearings out).
