The last couple years I have been having an end of year party with my classes at school. We hang out, eat food and play games. Yesterday was my last of these at SCC.
I made chocolate chip cookies, which went over pretty well. People brought donuts, chips, brownies, bagels, soda and pizza. I ate way too much junk food.
As for games there was poker (no actual money was exchanged) and that was fun. I didn’t play much but the students that did clearly had a lot of fun. There were also a couple other card games going on during the party as well.
I got introduced to a game called “Mind the Gap.” It is a trivia game that has you working through difference generations – boomers, gen X, millennials, and gen z. It was a lot of fun. I did well in boomer, but got killed in gen z. I am certainly thinking it is a game I want to get if, once we move, we hook up with others our age to play games with.
Then I got a few other cards and a gifts from students as well. I got a very nice gift from “M” and then I got a nice card from everyone that was at the party. There was a lot of nice notes in it. And on top of that they got my family a book about the outdoors in Idaho. Such an amazing and thoughtful gift.
A highlight was seeing Nikki there. She is an amazing former student. She brought me a card (sparkly one in the picture above), and my wife a card and flowers. I had to get the flowers home on my motorcycle, and Nikki wanted before and after pictures so here they are – the flowers made it home just fine.
Thank you for a fun time everyone! You will be missed.
I am truly blessed to have had such a great experience at SCC.
