So, the company that Beverly has been hired by is moving our house for us. This is so weird to me, but I understand that it is not abnormal in the corporate world.
Anyways, we have to do nothing. We have been told that if we box things up they will open said boxes and may rebox them if they need to. They have to do this for insurance reasons to make sure things that can’t be transported aren’t being transported. I totally get that. I still find it weird that we will have to do “nothing” to get the house ready to move.
I say that but there are things that we will do for sure. Like dealing with legos. WE have built lego sets in a number of places around the house. We will have to tear them down (at least somewhat) and the plan is to put them into ziplock bags and then back into their original boxes. My Wallace and Ladmo figurines I will probably wrap up on my own and place somewhere safe to then be boxed up. The same will hold true for other special things like that.
It looks like motorcycles don’t count as vehicles and can be moved without incurring the vehicle fee. That is kind of cool. They apparently stick them in the trailer with our regular stuff. I hope they can move them easily and safely.
I keep thinking about the big things in our house like our beds and new leather couches. I hope they make it and are in the same shape when they get to the new house. Same goes for “B” large exercise machine, the fridge and the freezer that are all in the basement currently. I am glad I don’t have to move them.
I am concerned about all the pictures we have that are framed. That is a lot of glass or plastic that can either break or get scratched.
I know these companies deal with this stuff all the time, and they are paid not to damage things, but still it all concerns me. I am not a complainer either by nature and I don’t want to have to file a complaint if something does go wrong. If I were moving myself and something goes wrong the only one I can blame is myself.
Still, it is going to be amazing to think that all I have to do is open the house and let them pack it all and move it all then deliver it to our new house at the other end. I mean that is so cool!
I’ll let you know how that all goes as things progress. That most likely isn’t happening until late June.
