This week we have worked on getting the house ready to sell. Well, truthfully it has been a week of getting things ready to move out. We are moving out next week, and then the house will go up for sale. I started telling our neighbors about us moving. There was the surprise and shock and that we would be missed. It was all very nice.
One surprise was that one of our neighbors expressed an interest in the house. They said that they had been looking at larger houses, with a pool, and a bigger yard. They were hoping to stay in the general area as well. So, we started talking.
Since then they have walked through the house, their realtor has walked through the house, and the comments have all been very positive. They have even gone through the pre-approval process to make sure they can get funding for the house right away. But the house isn’t on the market yet, and with the relocation company involved we have to go through the whole process of an actual traditional sale.
Yesterday I met with our realtor, decided on a price and signed all the paperwork. Once “B” signs the paperwork we are going to get it put on the market as a “coming soon” and my neighbors are going to make an offer.
“B” and I see this as a big answer to prayer if it follows through. “B” has been praying that a good family that would appreciate the garden and fruit trees would buy the house. That a family that can enjoy the pool and love the area would buy the house was important. And these neighbors fit that exactly. They have already enjoyed the fruit from the trees, they have used the pool (well their kids have a couple times), they want to garden, and they know the area. Another plus is that they have already said that they wouldn’t want us to paint the inside of the house beforehand. Another thing is that their realtor believes the entire process could go REALLY fast once an offer is accepted.
So, we are closer to selling our house I think. If this falls through we will scramble and get the house painted inside, get pictures done, and get it up officially. Then we will have to go through the traditional sale process and wait and see what happens, but I am honestly not too worried about that either. The house is a great house. Everyone keeps saying it is a bit of a “unicorn” in the market for a number of reasons and that makes it desirable. So, I am sure it will sell fairly quickly.
But I am hopeful that the offer from my neighbors will come quickly and at a price we are comfortable with.
