We are in AZ for a week. We drove here. The plan was for the kids and I to head down for a week so they could spend time with family and friends before school starts in Idaho. I had it all figured out with the drive, and things were set, and then “B” decided to come with us. That was a nice surprise. We drove from our house to Henderson the first day. It was a long day. I was pleasantly surprised by how nice the drive down 93 was through Nevada. I was expecting ugliness, but it was pretty.
Then we finished getting to Chandler the next day and dropped kids off with friends. I hung out at our Chandler house since that sale hasn’t gone through yet (more on that later). Then picked one kid up and headed to my parents house. The other kid was having a sleepover. Then Sunday we went to church then dropped both kids off with different friends, and “B” and I went to the Chandler house and hung out. “B” was supposed to have a massage, but that fell through. Then picked kids up and back to my parents for dinner. After a nice dinner we headed up to Pinetop for a couple days. On our way up we saw that one of the fires in the area had shut down the road back to the valley and I wondered what that was going to mean for the trip home on Tuesday. We made it up and got to bed.
The next day we spent the time around the cabin. It is nice up here. “B” had to work and the girls and I tried to get some general stuff done. I spent the morning trying to figure out things for the girls with their new school in Idaho. I had some very good emails back and forth with one person and I think we got “A” figured out more we even have what her schedule will most likely be for the the year. That was most of my morning and early afternoon.
Then at about 4pm I was outside with “G” and I had a text from our realtor in Chandler that there was an issue. Well, there had already been an issue earlier in that the relocation company needed something done last week by the buyer people and that didn’t get scheduled until Monday. Well, when that final walk through occurred they had their inspector come through with them again to confirm all the fixes took place. Well, the inspector has claimed that something that was done wasn’t done correctly. So I had to call the the person I had do the work, that I know and trust and have for years, and ask him to come out again ASAP and see if there is a different problem or to prove that there is no problem. Of course he can’t get out there right away, and so the closing date had to be pushed out. This was all occurring late in the afternoon a couple days before closing was supposed to happen. I know it will all get worked out, but man it is extra adulting that I didn’t want to deal with.
And then that evening I was talking to a friend in the Phoenix area and he mentioned that on Tuesday Wednesday, and Thursday the route we were planning to take back to the valley, due to the fire closing the regular route, has daily closures during the time that we were going to need to be driving through that area. Of course, those closures are determined daily and don’t happen everyday so there is no real way to plan for it. That means the drive home could be anywhere from 3hr and 30min to 4hr and 30min depending on the road closure. I am generally all good with whatever happens but we have to have a plan so we can get to where we need to when we need to.
