Sorry for the delay on this, but I do have October’s Top listens. I don’t think there are any new bands in the top 10 bands this month. I have MXPX, Relient K, Switchfoot, Five Iron, and more. I guess I am pretty known by now on the band side of things. They are in slightly different order than other months.
But where there are changes is in the top songs. Anberlin is there with Naive Orleans a great song by them. You also get one of my favorite songs by The Offspring with Gone Away. The line about heaven being so far away I find pretty powerful. There are times when heaven can feel far away in the world we live in. It is a really great punk song. Just recently they started coming out with some new music. I haven’t listened to it yet, but I am planning to check it out.
Another violinist is on the list this month with Ashley MacIsaac. I started listening to him back in the last 1990’s and I loved it right away. I have a feeling he is a reason I like Lindsey Stirling now. His first album is the best in my opinion and should be the one to check out if you are interested in hearing more – that album is “Hi, How Are You Today.”
A swing song from One Eight (formerly Flight 180) is a nice song as well. That song comes from that time when I was enjoying listening to swing as well as ska in the late 90’s and early 00’s. If you haven’t heard of them they are a fun swing band with 2 ladies as the lead singers. They didn’t last long as a group though.
Ben Folds Five is on the list this month as well. I enjoy his piano music, and I was a bigger fan when in college. He is probably the reason I like Five for Fighting now. That is someone that I am not sure has popped up on the lists much. That is a bit of a surprise to me.
So, some new people/bands for you all the check out that I haven’t mentioned yet. Maybe you will find something new to enjoy.
