I write about music on and off as many of you know. I enjoy listening to music. So, in this Christmas season I thought I would write about Christmas music.

This year I am in a different mood. I have been trying to listen to Christmas music exclusively for the lat week or so. I thought I would get me into the Christmas season more. But I am finding it hard to want to listen to Christmas music. Don’t get me wrong I enjoy good Christmas songs. The ones I mentioned last year are still top liked for me, but I am dragging more this year on the listening. I am finding reasons to not listen to music or to listen to other music.
I wonder why?
I am not sad about Christmas. It is a great time of year. We get to see family and friends and relax (somewhat at least). So, that isn’t it.
Is it because I am somewhere new for Christmas (Idaho)? I don’t think so. I am having a fine time here in Idaho so far. Some would even say it is more Christmasy here because I can go outside and see snow on the mountains.
Is it the music itself? No, I am not listening to anything new Christmas music wise. I am listening to same the same things I have been for years. Ok, I have a few new things, but they are all at least a year old or older, and I enjoyed them last year and I like them this year as well.
I think it may have to do with all the other stuff going on in my head and I am not embracing the season quite as much maybe? We are looking for a new church. One kid has been having “fun times” with a specific class that has taken up way more time than it should and I have been trying to help out there. The same kid has been having to decide what high school they want to attend next year (something I never had to consider as a kid). We are traveling for Christmas break and trying to figure out time with family and friends and each other (all of which I am really bad at doing). One kid has a birthday this time of year and wanted parties in both Idaho and Arizona because they have friends in both places (and again me not being the party planner person adds stress to the whole family). Try to find a house cleaner to start after the first of they year (may have that one figured out, yeah). The 4runner backup camera I installed 8 years ago went out and I have been trouble shooting it the last week, every time I think I know what is wrong it ends up not being the issue, and it is a 20 minute tear apart and put back together of the dashboard and rear of car (I am really good at it now).
So, maybe that is why. I want to listen to music but I find myself not focusing on the music and therefore I am listening to things other than Christmas music.
