So I took my family to the non-denominational church I blogged about a few weeks ago to see what we all thought.
No one hated it.
The girls went to the youth times. “G” said it was ok and “A” was indifferent. “A” said there didn’t seem to be any other girls her grade in the group. That was a bit f a concern, but it was only one week.
So, we went back another time as a family and as a family we felt – it was a no.
For the second week in a row we felt the pastor didn’t have a point in his sermon. He was talking about Ezekiel, but then went on tangents that didn’t seem to relate back to the passage. The music was fine, there was some repetition in the lyrics (which bothers me), but it wasn’t bad. “G” said her group was ok, but she didn’t know anyone (not hugely surprising). “A” said that no one talked to her while she was in her group and the group seemed to already have very defined “groups” of kids that all hung out together.
So, another – Strike 3 – but we are NOT out. We will keep trying.
