So time to try another church. My wonder wife did a quick search on a Saturday night and found one that was close that seemed like it was worth checking out. I am not sure why I didn’t find it while doing my searches, but whatever.
We headed over the next morning and it was busy. I mean there were a lot of people there. I dropped off “G” and there seemed to be 20+ in her class that was for 2 grades only. “B” dropped off “A” so I couldn’t comment on it before service. “B” and I headed to service and it was very full. We found a couple seats and got ready. The music was fine. Nothing special. It wasn’t too loud and it wasn’t boring. They did your typical modern praise music of the day. They talked about baptism and communion. They didn’t do either that week, but it is something they do regularly.
The pastor then came out and preached. He did a pretty good job in my opinion and tied lots of things together to the point he was trying to make. He even brought in a recent mission trip he went on and applied it to his message as well.
Afterwards we talked as a family and both “G” and “A” said that there were around 12 girls that were in their grade level. “A” mentioned that a couple of the girls mentioned they went to the same school as her, but she didn’t know them. “G” thought she may have recognized someone but wasn’t 100% sure.
So, we decided to go back and give it another go the following week.
Well, week 2 went well again. The worship band did a few song that we knew from churches past, and they did a good job on them. The bass guitar player this week was amazing. He was all over the place on the neck, but not in a bad way. He seemed to know what he was doing. Too often bass players just strum something and keep their fingers in just a few places. They may play separate strings, but again not move their fingers much. Not this guy, he was all over the place, and it was nice to see.
Sorry, not that important to choosing a church.
The message was god again and it had a clear theme. The pastor preaches from the Bible. He even mentioned the importance of peaching from the Bible. It is important. You want to make sure that the church you are going to is using the Word, and using it correctly, to guide and teach people. The girls said their classes went well also. “G” said that she wanted to go to a fun activity coming up. And then there is “A”. She smiled about things. She mentioned an up coming event where some of the other girls talked about dressing as “old ladies” for it, and she said that sounded fun, and she even said that she was willing to go to the weekly youth Bible study. So that is huge! She isn’t sold on the church, but this is certainly a positive.
So for now I am going to say this church is certainly a strong hit. I think a double, if I keep up the baseball analogies I have been doing. I don’t want to say a home run yet. But we will certainly be going back for the foreseeable future.
Yo,
That sounds promising. I hope it works out. And if not, I hope that it’s so obvious that it’s not suppose to work out that the decision is easy. But, I mostly hope it works out.
High-Five,
Your Bro.
