A Recurring Verse

So, the following verse has come up a few times in different ways today:

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” – John 14:27

I am not sure why it has come up so much today. I have felt a little off at times today, but nothing that has unsettled me to the point of needing peace. But at the same time I guess the reason that I am not falling further into being off may be because I have the peace of Christ in my life.

Peace is such a great thing. I truly desire that more people would be in that peace that only Christ gives. I want Christians to embrace that peace. There are too many people in this world that don’t have that peace.

After the multiple shootings that occurred yesterday here in the USA, some that made the news in a big way and some that should have, there is clear signs that peace is far from the world we live in. And then today is 9/11. A day that I will always remember where I was. It was a day when peace was shattered as well in this nation.

So, maybe I do know why this verse came up many times throughout the day for me. I hope that this verse helps you as well today and in the days, weeks, months, and years to come. Jesus does provide peace. He doesn’t make everything alright, but He provides the peace to get through those things.
