This week is moving week for the Canham’s.
They are here all week. They started Monday nice and early (7am) to beat some of the heat and will be done sometime Wednesday through Friday. The driver, the man in charge, says Wednesday will be load day, but we have also been told it could go as late as Friday by the actual company.
“B” and I spent the weekend trying to get things as ready as possible. “B” worked her very fine — off in her sewing room and got rid of A LOT of stuff. I worked on a lot of smaller things like electronics and such. We had a bit of a blowup about the freezer. We have too much frozen stuff, and while I have been using it as I can, I don’t use it often. And as a result we still have too much stuff in the freezer and not sure what we are going to do with it all. “B” was pretty irritated with me about the fact we had so much frozen food still, and that it may go to waste. She is right that I don’t pull stuff out of the freezer very often. I also don’t add things to the freezer very often. Even on Monday we were still getting it figured out. But as the result of the weekend work I ended up having to use my neighbor’s recycle and trash bins.
When thye got here we did a walk through. We talked about all the stuff that doesn’t need to move. And “B” asked of we could wait on the kitchen and master bedroom until tomorrow so we can have at least one more night in the house. Hopefully 2 to sleep if not cook, but that is fine because Tuesday night we are having dinner at a former student’s place (I’ll write about that later this week probably).
Monday they hit the garage (most of it until it got too hot), living room, family room, both girls bedrooms, the sewing room (one guy spent I think the entire day in this room), jungle room (it has a jungle paint job in it), pantry (the person doing this area said, “I have never seen so much tea before and in some many varieties. Well, my wife loves her tea), office, and the rest of the basement. They got the entire house done expect for the kitchen and master bedroom which we asked them to wait until tomorrow to do. It was quite a site to see them work. I wandered around throughout the day and they know what they are doing and do it fast. I am a trusting person and I am sure they know what they are doing, but I sure hope everything gets to Idaho in “one piece”. I guess they still have the shed to do as well.
They crated my 2 telescopes which was cool. I was a little concerned about the one I had built in college, but since they crated it I am far less worried about it. While in the garage there was a few more things that they can’t move (automotive grease I had for example, and my oil drip pans since they had remnant oil in them – oh well I will just have to re-buy them up in Idaho no worries).
Tuesday they were here nice and early again (5:30am), and started with the garage and shed and then moved to the kitchen and master bedroom (so I could get breakfast made and we could get dresses). They got it all packed and then the loading started. Again it was amazing to watch these people get it all done so quickly and efficiently. They certainly know what they are doing. The day isn’t over yet but I wanted to get my Tuesday blog out. I will update later in the week about the finishing up of it.
I have said before that I hate moving, but I must say this is the way to move (at least so far in my opinion we’ll see how I feel in a few more days and when the stuff arrives and it unloaded in Idaho). I think that having the stuff done for you take so much of the hassle out of moving. Now at the same time, as I sit here writing I am reminded of the last time we moved (12+ years ago). We had AMAZING friends show up to our house and do very similar things as these people are doing right now. I must thank all those people again for their help (Joiners, Maxys, Nichols, Russos, and some many more I am forgetting right now).
I remember that move!
Thank you for your help on it. It was a blessing.
