I did not watch last week’s debate between Trump and Harris. I have better things to do with my life. But I did watch some recaps, and I read a few things as well. And I must say it sounds like Trump laid an egg and Harris pushed all the right buttons to get Trump to lay that egg.
I am still not a Harris fan. I didn’t ready anything about the debate that showed me that she has any kind of policy standing that I can really back. Nothing new came out of the debate from her. So, nothing has changed there, and that is too bad in some ways. I am not convinced that she would make a good president.
I am sure that Trump will not make a good president. And he proved it in that debate. He was defensive and rude. (Not that Harris was not rude at times with her attitude toward Trump). Because Harris did such a great job of hitting Trump with statements that caused him to go on the defensive he was never able to hit back. That showed that Harris prepared well for the debate. She knew what to say and how to say it to get Trump to have to play catch up most of the time. He was never able to talk about the policies that he is in support of and how he could help to “Make America Great Again” (if that is possible).
Harris clearly won. Trump did so bad that he has crawled back to his corner and said that he doesn’t want to do any other debates with her. Clearly showing that he knows, or at least listened to the right people around him telling him, that he lost that debate and another showing like that could really sink his election chances.
That is al I will say about the debate.
I wrote after the Democratic Convention that I felt Harris was a bad choice for that party to choose and that they had basically gifted the election to Trump. Well, I may be wrong. Most currently polling has Harris in the lead. Of course most of those polls show that the election could go either way when you take in the margin of error. But I will admit that I am surprised by that. Before the debate I would have thought that Trump would have had the lead. But that has certainly changed since last week.
I feel like this debate only went slightly better than the last debate between Trump and Biden and we all know how that ended for the democrats. Only this time it is the Republicans that are on the side going, “now what?”
Again I don’t care who you vote for. That is your thing. I think neither of them are deserving of the presidency. I am still looking for someone like John McCain to show up again and be someone that truly wants to work with everyone.
