Time for another commentary on what I was listening to this last month.

There isn’t a whole lot new this month on the artist side – Relient K, Anberlin, Switchfoot, Five Iron Frenzy, MxPx, Brave Saint Saturn, The Insyderz, and Jon Foreman. But wait Dennis McCarthy and Audio Adrenaline? They are new to list.
Since I have been doing a random mix of all my music I am getting music from people I didn’t naturally listen to on a regular basis in the past. With Audio Adrenaline I got to hear songs like Chevette, Big House, The houseplant song, and Underdog. There must be more as well since none of those songs came up on the song list. These were songs I enjoyed a lot in high school and early college. I don’t listen to them much anymore, but it was nice hearing them during the month. As for Denis McCarthy he is a composer a did a lot of music for Star Trek, primarily for The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine. I do remember a lot of hose songs coming up this last month. It was nice to have those orchestrations intermixed with the rock that I was listening to during the month. His music really captured the episodes quite well. Listening to the soundtrack to Best of Both Worlds is so great and every song still makes me think of those parts of the show.
As for individual songs there are some great ones by Anberlin (3 on the list this month). Paperthin Hymn is a very popular song and I understand why. It has great lyrics and great tunes to go wit hit. There are also 2 songs from the Relient K album “Air for Free” and the top and bottom of the list. That is one of their later albums which is a lot of fun. It has a pop flare to it, but still a lot of rock. Not as poppy as their “Collapsible Lung” album which made me happy. I like their more rock sound. And there is a song from the musical “Daddy Long Legs” – “Who Is This Man?”. That was a musical “B” and I saw at the Herberger Theater many years ago. We enjoyed it enough to buy the album and I like hearing the songs from the album when they come up on random. I don’t think I ever pick to listen directly to any of the songs anymore, but I am always pleased when I hear one.
So, there you have another month of music. You should check out the music on the list if you haven’t already. Jon Foreman is getting ready to do a US solo tour. If he is in your area you should check that out. I am sure the concerts will be amazing. Regretfully there will be none close to me.
